I am an Inspector from a County police force in England.
My life changed one day when, frustrated beyond belief, I started this Blog and wrote about my trousers (see the very first entry in June 2006 Archive). Within a few weeks, thousands of people were logging on and reading these pages.
The Inspector Gadget blog has had over 2,600,000 hits and has been widely reviewed in the national media. As Nick Park discovered before me, such is the power of a story about trousers!
You are now reading the BEST unauthorised police inspector blog on the web. Actually, I’ll admit it – you are reading the ONLY unauthorised police inspector blog on the web.
Police blogs are where we come to moan and get ‘tired and emotional’ about our unique job. I regard myself as a member of the emergency services (like the paramedics and firefighters), not as a person who’s only task is to gather (or invent) statistics to make the Government look good.
This is not about how good we are. It’s mainly about how bad we are, and who we blame for the mess we are in. It’s about how we changed from people who save lives to people who chase meaningless targets.
My publisher is Dan Collins and the book is available now.
