We are good to go on. No alarms and no surprises. No further action. No evidence of any breach of codes. No infringement of any liberty. Regular exercise at the gym (3 days a week). Getting on well with your associate employee contempories. At ease. Eating well. A patient, better driver. Sleeping well (no bad dreams). No paranoia. An empowered and informed member of society (pragmatism not idealism). Fitter, happier and more productive. A pig. In a cage. On antibiotics.

*They’re* not quite as daft as they seem, either, then.
Glad to hear common sense has prevailed for a change..must be a relief
YAY!!!!!
Good news!
Mmmmnn…Is this a ‘basically we have nothing but we are watching you, thanks for your input but there is only one party line…dont step over it? If it is then it is time to push the line a bit further…
Fantastic! Good you’re still here.
Phew !
Glad we’ve not lost the voice of reason !
Fantastic news Inspector. I am sure that you and Mrs Gadgit are releived.
Really good news! But why did they put you on antibiotics?
Good news
“Fitter, happier and more productive.”
No alarms and no surprises then.
Brilliant news. About time common sense prevailed - for once!
It’s good to know you’re still with us.
If the interviewer gave implication of further scrutiny/ possible reprisals, let them be very aware that we, too, continue to watch.
Thanks for keeping us informed.
phew - but your post has a bit of Animal Farm about it….
Fantastic!!
I forecast a promotion soon on the grounds of police/public relations. Great news.
HHHhhhhmm. I suspect Brainwashing. Things will never be the same again.
Good news boss
Keep it up old boy and now you can get in Mrs G’s way on lates when you clump around at home at ease with yourself, the world and the Rubber Heelers
Your team has some boss (to be renamed Radiohead?. Least it’s better than Creep!).
………… but remember to be “Semper Vigilo.”
Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career.
Good News!
Perhaps the ‘powers that be’, have realised that your blog has done more for the image of the Police, than any amount of Home Office and HQ Media Newspeak will EVER achieve.
Long may it continue!
ATB.
Great news. “Lucky” even. I’d be “Climbing The Walls” if you had been taken away from us. =)
Really glad to see you still with us.
Glad,very glad
Good you are still here, I hope you can relax a bit now.
Fantastic news! It’s great to see that they have seen an excellent job when they see it. Knew they didn’t have a leg to stand on….
Keep up the amazing work Insp. Long may it continue!
Have just retired and spent last few years on PSD ( howls of derision ). My experience of this type of issue goes something like this.
OCU superintendent rings Inspector at PSD and says he has someone keeping a blog and wants PSD to deal with it.
Inspector ” Why, is he in breach of the code ”
Supt ” I don’t know”
Insp ” Well you can speak to him you know”
Supt “What shall I say”
This conversation goes on for some time in the same vein until the Supt realises that PSD are not interested.
OCU Commander then rings head of PSD with same request but probably adds more concerns to make it sound more serious.
PSD examine the facts and find out exactly what the command team could have done by examining the blog. ie. Nobody has been identified and no police operation has been compromised.
I spent many happy hours!! dealing with management issues that certain gaffers could not or would not deal with.
I look forward to being able to carry on reading your very funny blog.
Good news. Keep on writing and we’ll keep on reading and enjoying.
Huzzah!
HURRAH!
Great news, think I’ll start one myself, I’m happy to make it NIM, NCRS, Quality Assured and Victim Compliant and shall employ a small army of sick, lame and lazy 9-5 coppers to email me from a small office in the roofspace to advise me when I post ouside these bounds.
Maybe I’ll just ignore them with the usual response of ‘noted’ by return of email, why change the habit of a lifetime.
Seriously, keep posting, between you, Copperfield and Sergeant Says an accurate snapshot of the highly politicised, tail wagging dog organisation that is our job is superbly reported.
Where are the bosses like this, I’d work for him…..

Great news, glad to hear it sir.
Result! Keep taking the tablets…
Excellent. Can’t wait for the book!
The good news - all is OK on the Gadget front!
The bad news - just in time for dealing with those drunken tw*ts again on a Saturday morning!!!
All the best Sir.
Fantastic! Looking forward to reading more from “the other side of the boots”.
Very very glad to hear this
That’s very good news. I congratulate them on their wise decision.
A pig? - a cage? - what image are we looking at here?
But fantastic relief all round - hope you and Mrs G can can hear the cheering crowds.
Superb news. Glad to hear I’ll still be able to read your blog.
What was it all about then. were they just trying to scare you?
Anyway it’s all good.
Do you think you will post your comments any different knowing they are watching you?
Probably easier for them to let you keep going as a honey trap for all the other police bloggers to give themselves away. Oh, hang on, wait a minute. Damn.
Good news, I’d be interested to know what they said about the blog (if you’re allowed to divulge it) I was starting to have nightmares about what would happen if I was pulled into an office and there was a printout on the desk. I don’t know the rules well enough to say they couldn’t find something to batter you with.
Another innocent street bobby put through protracted hell by PSD for no ****ing reason.
“If you can, do. If you can’t, transfer to PSD.”
Congratulations to you and the missus, guv’nor!
Maybe they should give you a Pay Raise as you now pulling double duty? First as Inspector, second as Unofficial PR.
Glad to hear you’ll be around.
This is excellent news Inspector but there is one thing bothering me about all this.
Who decided the PSD were the God Almighty Ratifiers of someone who, quite frankly, was exercising free speech?!
Yes we all held our breath, and yes its a victory for Police Bloggers everywhere, but lets not paint a picture of the PSD sitting smugly saying, “You may carry on with your Blog Inspector, we’ve given it a clean bill of health”!!!
Good News!
Isn’t anybody else worried about pigs being caged and anti-bodied..you’re all sitting there smugly getting off on your own porcine conspiracy theories… as if this business didn’t have any real effect on living breathing people…christ almighty here’s a man being crucified between conscience, duty and family comitments and all you lot can say is “go for it boss” - Jesus I don’t believe it - I’m outside the job, and gadget represents much of the respect I still hold for the law - but you lot the last few days? Give the man a chance won’t you?
Excellent news, just got back from two weeks leave and got a bit of catching up to do. I am pleased that your insight and they way you present it will continue.
I’m very very pleased.
As others have already said. You, David Copperfield, Sergeant, and PC Bloggs are the true voices of the Police, not the spin orientated, politicised ACPO machine that spews out the mindless crap at the behest of the Home Office.
Keep it up.
Phew…
Thank goodness - I find your posts both heartening and dreadful - and it makes me look at the police in a far more sympathetic way.
Looking forward to more!
Hurrah! So glad you have come through in one piece and that I can still enjour your blog.
Radiohead Boss? I never imagine ANY of my Inspectors listening to Thom Yorke.
Cogidubnus
I am concerned about the effect of events on this officer. I agree he is a man being crucified between conscience, duty and family.
However this post leaves a number of issues unresolved..a pig.. in a cage ..on antibiotics.
I dont think that line was writtem lightly.
I would like to hope that Insp gadget will continue as normal..
We need blogs like this…
Officer Dibble - yes, I was concerned about that line and was very worried indeed - thought our man might have been gagged…evidently not, although I still think he’s been threatened and is under very great pressure…I agree we really do need blogs like this… but at what expense? I believe the pressure on him and his good lady has been incredible and think we all ought to back off a little, and let him find his feet again…
Glad you’re still here Guv but I predict a ’sideways’ career move will be imposed on you in the near future.
The Blair lickspittle ranks of ACPO toadies won’t give up until you’ve ‘disappeared’.
Remember what happened to Dr David Kelly after he was brave enough to ‘tell it like it is’.
That is excellent news. I enjoy reading your blog and I never saw any conflict of interest with your job. It is rare to find such insightful, objective and honest writing and I am glad that it will continue
Hooray.
I’m glad. As a latecomer to this blog I feel I have some catching up to do and at least now I will have the chance to do it.
It would appear that common sence has prevailed - you obviously don’t work for the same force as I do!
Glad to hear this! Well done, and keep up the good blogwork…
good news
W00t
Hats off to you Sir. Keep it mean, Keep it clean. Mutha (Sniggering)
Just be careful out there (or whatever that bloke with the funny eye used to say on HillStreet Blues)
Good Call.
Whoo hoo. (I know i’m out of date but i reading this all in one night and good lord what a roller coster.
Well done sir.
